Education for Orphans – Update | July 2024
Education for Orphans (EFO) exists to support the physical, mental, and spiritual health and growth of orphans by actively sharing the love of Jesus Christ through personal relationships and through the provision of resources necessary for their care and instruction.
Against all odds, our students continue to work hard to further their education and be the light of Christ in very dark situations.
School and Orphanage Takeover
Unfortunately, the government has decided to take over New Life Orphanage Sarthe, along with the attached school, in order to increase airport security.
At this time:
- We do not know how long our students have before being uprooted.
- We are unsure what compensation, if any, will be provided to rebuild elsewhere.
For those who have visited Haiti, you know how much of a beacon of light the orphanage and school have been to the community. Please be praying as we look into relocating as many students as possible.
Future Plans
While we remain committed to supporting our students in Haiti, we also believe EFO is being called once again to become a sending organization.
Current plans include:
- Sending three EFO representatives to Colombia in July to explore opportunities for expansion.
- Exploring participation in a mission trip to Nepal in October.
- Continuing support for our current student in Nepal, with hopes of expanding involvement.
Please pray with us as we seek God’s direction for where He would have us serve next.

Prayer Requests
- Peace in Haiti
- Pray for a peace that surpasses understanding for believers trying to survive amidst violence, kidnappings, and political turmoil.
- International Connections
- Prayer for EFO connections in Nepal, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic as we seek new opportunities to serve.
- Housing Security
- Prayer for housing insecurities affecting our current students due to recent government actions.
Praise
- We want to celebrate what God is doing:
- One of our dear brothers, who often acted as a translator, has made it safely to the United States and has been reunited with his family.
- We have two recent university graduates, with three more scheduled to graduate by the end of this year.
- Praise for God’s provision through EFO donations, allowing students living at the orphanage to have food each day.
